As I stand here flapping the parachute up and down, up and down, I am happy that the other children are laughing and giggling as they run under and through the falling parachute. My son on the other hand is running under and through all the other areas of the gymboree. "Oh well", I sigh, "He looks content." Meanwhile back under the parachute we have crawled under to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". My son, comes slides under to sneak a peek and to find out why we are all hiding underneath. He always gazes around but never really shows his "little stars." Days later, after a bath, I arbitrarily am singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and he starts to show me his "little stars." Now, he has the whole family singing and showing their stars and if you don't participate he will call your name until you join in the fun. For me it meant so much as I felt it validated that he is learning at Gymboree. It has only been 1 1/2 months since we have been going to Gymboree Play & Music but I see how he has grown so much and how he is becoming a strong and confident individual. I recall back to his first day and the advice I was given; "If he doesn't want to do what everyone else is doing, just let him do his thing but you should not stop doing what everyone else is doing." I see now as my little star is never far. He is still watching and learning all the time. Thank you Gymboree for helping and guiding me as my son continues to grow in your family oriented environment.
