Me and my daughter joined Gymboree Play & Music to make friends. Being a new mom and new to the area we didn't know anyone and I wanted my daughter to have social interaction with other children. It was during a really hard time in her life, she was only 2 yrs old and was going through some tough surgeries. She had to have balloons in her back to stretch her skin so they could remove back tissue that had a strong chance of turning into skin cancer. Every place we went she was stared at and only being 2yrs old she knew that she was getting a lot of attention. Some people would stare at her and made her start to shy away and hide in her mommy's arms, it made me angry that adults made my baby feel afraid of people because of the stares she was receiving. We went to Gymboree to try small groups of children her age to make her comfortable around other adults and children. The first couple weeks were hard and trying she was scared to let go of mommy's hand. After a couple weeks and the caring nature of her gymboree teachers, she started to come out of her shell! She was the first one in at circle time, she always wanted to be jumping and playing in front if everyone. It made a big difference in my daughters life that not all attention was negative. With all the teachers help she came out of her shell a big bright star. I am forever grateful for there help and motivation to help my daughter through such a tough time. The caring, understanding and most of all their time has made a lasting difference in my daughters life!
