Fun and Friends

For the first couple months after my daughter (Caroline) was born, I was scared to take her anywhere! What if she cried or needed to be fed? Or most of all, what if someone looked at me and thought, "What is that woman doing? She doesn't have a clue!". Then Caroline and I went and tried a free Gymboree class. I found myself surrounded by other mommies who were in the same boat as us. I didn't get a single nasty look when Caroline cried for 30 minutes of the class. I got sympathetic looks, words of encouragement, and advice (but not the unsolicited pushy kind some strangers love to give new moms!). We've been going to Play and Learn classes ever since then--18 months ago. We both have made great friends and shared so many milestones with them. It was such a big deal when Caroline started to sit by herself, and we "graduated" to level 2! I've seen her grow from a little baby laying on a blanket to speed crawling to grab some bubbles, to taking some first (and very tentative) steps on a cushy Gymbo mat, to running and climbing on and through everything she can. Gymboree has become such a big part of our lives, and we look forward to seeing Ms. Stephanie and all of our friends every week! We're slowly creeping closer to moving up to level 5, and I can't wait to see what new things she will get to learn!
