Nico's First Crawl

Tuesday, April 16, 2013 by Gymbo Buzz Blog Contest

Our son, Nico started attending Gymboree classes at around 6 Gymboree Play & Musicmonths of age and has had some of his (and mom's) very favorite, special and memorable moments with his friends, Gymbo and Miss Amy every Tuesday morning. At home, a nearly 8 month old Nico was becoming more and more mobile, not yet crawling but wiggling around, what my husband and I called, " winding it up" as he thrusted his backside back and forth, as if he was building that momentum necessary for the big crawl, and learning to get from one end of the room to another by rolling or scooting! We were just waiting for the day that we had a little crawler on our hands. One Tuesday at Gymboree, Miss Amy joined Nico and I during tunnel/slide time and introduced Nico to this magic green ball. His eyes lit up and with a little encouragement, Nico went from sitting up to down on all fours. Nico began to " wind it up" and before we knew it, he had taken his first crawl as he was chasing that green ball. By the end of playtime, Nico had crawled as far as 8 FEET, charging after that amazing green ball. I could not believe it! My little guy took his first crawl at Gymboree. Now we just had to figure out how to get him to do this at home so that Dad could share in this huge milestone. I knew what I had to do, buy the GREEN BALL. Nico was a little bashful showing Dad his new found skill, as it took Dad 2 days to witness the crawl. But since that day, Nico has been on the move and now he cruises around Gymboree every week like an old pro. Not only does he crawl but now he loves the tunnels ( which he was once afraid of) and chases the balls through the tunnel! I cannot wait to see what other fun things there are in store for us. Every week, I witness such amazing development in my son and my heart just melts when I see all the fun he has in class. We can't wait to see what next week brings:)
