It wasn’t until Sophia was about a year old that we started going to the Play and Learn class once a week. She liked the class, and once she could talk started asking for “GYMBO.” So, we knew she liked it.
A few weeks ago, we started going to Music—she liked it immediately. I didn’t realize how much of an impact it made until a few weeks later. Several days after going to a Caribbean themed music class, she was walking around the house singing “DAYGO” for the DAY-O song she just learned, then she sang the next verse, well in 2 year old speak “Bye bye home” (daylight come and me wanna go home). It was amazing to me that after hearing Miss Julie sing the song just ONCE, Sophia got it!
Then, even better. At our next class, Miss Julie started off with the “Thunder” song and Sophia sang every word back and forth with Miss Julie. “I hear thunder, I hear thunder, loud loud thunder…” No other child was singing but Sophia. Miss Julie was so proud of Sophia as was Sophia! Sophia also loves to sing that song hiking through the mountains at Shenandoah National Park!
