I rarely get the pleasure of bringing ReGymboree Play & Music has been fostering creativity and confidence in children ages 0-5 for over 30 years. The very first time I had off from work on a Gymboree day happened to be her second birthday, so we happily made our way to Play & Learn classes together. I finally put a face to the voice on the phone as Stephannie and I chatted, but Becky was just interested in getting into the play area early.

Someone, thankfully not my perfect girl, had an accident, and when I alerted Miss Jen to the impressively large puddle I mentioned the birthday. With the puddle cleaned away and the birthday singing planned class began.

The theme of the day was mail, so I thought Becky would be a shoe-in to name the color of the mailbox, (that month ever color was blue, we just stacked the questions to make her look brilliant), but she kept trying to sneak off and go climbing. Oh well, we still had the birthday singing to look forward to.

Near the end of the class Miss Jen called everyone together and began to sing Happy Birthday. I leaned down to give Becky a little dance...and she just wandered away. A few short weeks later she started yelling, "Surprise! Happy Birthday!" at the drop of the proverbial hat, (at this rate her bunny is 162), but at the time she had no concept, and therefore no interest in birthdays.
