Our story is that I moved to Virginia when I was 3 months pregnant and immediately threw myself into my job and didn't spend time making friends. When my daughter was born in Feb of '09, I found myself now a stay-at-home mom and I didn't have many friends here with like lifestyles. One suggested Gymboree and so I started going when my daughter was 2 months old. We were at the Alexandria location
, in Level 1 with Mary as our teacher. She was wonderful (still is) and I looked forward to those classes to get me out of the house and to learn something about the mysterious little creature I now took care of each day. One day at the end of the class, Mary suggested we all form a playgroup, so the other mothers and I exchanged phone numbers and e-mail addresses and made plans to meet and play the following week. The rest, they say, is history. Two and a half years later, we are still meeting once a week, our toddlers are welcoming new siblings, and we are great friends. We even make it a point to meet once a month in the evening for a "Girl's Night Out" and every December we celebrate the holiday's together with a gift exchange for the mom's and kids. Our kids celebrate their birthday's together. I hope my son and daughter are friends with these other kids well into adulthood. How cool would that be? The moms have remained close despite some of the girl's moving out of town. We became new moms at the same time, and bonded through the process, and so I thank Mary and Gymboree for giving me and my children friends I am sure we will have forever!Class Type:

VirginiaThe bonds that you make at a Gymboree class is one that will last a lifetime. Why? Our program provides a unique environment for bonding. The parents bond with their children and you may also bond with other parents in the class. Our baby classes are especially tender places for infants and new parents to spend time together. We do have the quintessential early learning program for infants. Most people ask us. "What can you do with a two month old?" Our answer is "plenty". We have parent discussion topics where you can share with others and we also have gentle baby games that you can do at home. A beach ball, flashlight or a blanket will take on new life after you see the great ways that you can play with your newborn. Come try a free class and make friends forever.
