From Milestones to Breakthroughs

Monday, September 5, 2011 by Gymboree Play & Music Family and Friends

When Alexa started at Gymboree, she was afraid of so many things..... climbing, Parachute Time, etc. She would become fascinated by objects in her environment such as the mirror, picture frames, and other things. My wife and I contemplated removing her from the program due, in large part, to her lack of participation and behavioral problems. Later on that year, Alexa was diagnosed with Autism.

We decided to keep her at Gymboree hoping that "things would get better." This would end up being one of the best decisions we could have ever made for Alexa.

Alexa began to make breakthroughs. She began to climb, crawl through the tunnels, and even use the castanets to catch bubbles!!! She also began to participate in group activities and her behaviors became far and few between. She even sings the Gymbo song spontaneously at home! (We want, we want Gymbo!!!....)

Gymboree has allowed Alexa to excel in so many areas. We are grateful for the staff who have been so understanding and who see Alexa for the bright little girl that she is.

THANKS GYMBOREE!!!!! (You too, Gymbo!!!)
