My Gymbo Story
Share your Gymboree story with us! We want to hear about those special moments from class. Friends you’ve made along the way, milestones you’ve reached through play.
I am a former Gymboree Play & Music teacher who recently got to come back for a day to help out.
I taught for five years with Gymboree Play & Music and have so many wonderful memories of this place. It is truly a magical place. All the parents walk in with a smile of their face ready to play with their children. The center (Gymboree Play and Music of Greenwood) always smells so good and is so clean and bright. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had today to come and revisit a place that I spent so many hours at that I truly love!
Shout out to Ms. Casie and Ms. Maria for their great job teaching!

I literally can't say enough good things about every single aspect of our experience at Gymboree Play & Music!
My daughter and I tried out several different programs before finding our lovely West 73rd St. location in the UWS/NYC. We both felt at home from the minute we walked in. The space is inviting and spotlessly clean and the structures in the gym are always fun and just challenging enough.
We started with the Play and Learn class, then joined the two's program, and are now enjoying the three's program. As a former Montessori preschool teacher, I appreciate how incredibly kind and dedicated Juliet's teachers are. They "get" her. They always meet her at her level and help her work through her more challenging moments with love, kindness, and understanding. I tell every single parent I meet about our amazing Upper West Side gem. Our location, (along with the other NYC locations) is facing some difficulty with new city certification issues and I know I am not the only parent who appreciates how well the manager, Stephanie, has handled it.
Our Gymboree Play & Music is its own little community and all of us parents have offered to help however we can. Gymboree Play & Music is an extension of our home and family and I hope we stay close long after Juliet outgrows the program.
We have brought both our children to Gymboree Play & Music and always had great teachers!! We love it there! My youngest will start Preschool in the fall and we are very very sad to say goodbye to this amazing experience.
I have been taking my daughter to the Reno Gymboree Play & Music since she could sit up and she's almost a year old now. It's absolutely fabulous and I have nothing but good things to say.
The toddler classes at Gymboree Play & Music are varied and perfectly age-appropriate. The instructor who does all of the classes except the music class is amazing, I don't know where she gets her energy! She clearly loves what she does and it translates into the children having a wonderful time and learning as they go.
I look forward to the preschool type activities when my daughter gets older as these seem great also.
The plans and payment schedules are flexible so you can come as often or as little as you like, it works for everyone.
I also appreciate their attention to hygiene and cleanliness, as any mother knows, groups of small children can breed all sorts of interesting infections!
We love our local Gymboree Play & Music in Reno and will continue to go for years to come.

Gymboree Play & Music for almost a year. He was almost 10 months old when we started, so he has been attending Gymboree for over half of his life. We love the energy of the class and the teachers.
I went to Gymboree starting in 1985 with my mother.
My husband also went with his mother in 1985 and he couldn't stand yet. His mom propped him up to make him look like he was included.
Today I bring my daughter who is 10 months. I started her when she was 4 weeks old and we were teacher Emma's youngest student.
Play & Learn Level 3 at Gymboree Play & Music Oakland, CA
We joined Gymboree Play & Music when our son was really little. He loved the classes and we loved all the ways he was learning while having fun. Through the years we learned that he had some sensory struggles as well as some anxieties about large groups. This was one place that was full of people and full of noise as well as physical challenges that he just LOVED!
Gymboree Play & Music has come to feel like a family. After we had our daughter, we were so excited to let her grow up with the Gymbo family. The owner and teacher at the Reno, Gymboree Play & Music for the Play & Learn class is one of the most amazing and passionate teachers we have had the pleasure of knowing, and it shines through in every class.
Both of our kiddos love everything to do with Gymboree Play & Music. We are often singing our favorite Gymboree Play & Music songs in the car and at home, and we love the Bubble Ooodles too!

Nearly twenty-five years ago on the dot, my mom not only brought me to my first Level 2 class, but also started working for Gymboree Play & Music in Houston.
While I don't quite remember attending class as a baby, the home videos show me walking for the first time with my chubby legs, adoring my teachers, smiling non-stop and having fun at my Gymboree birthday parties.
I do remember my first teenage job at Gymboree as a Birthday Party Assistant on the weekends. I've had the opportunity to work here on-and-off over some summers and have reveled in every minute of it.
There's no place like Gymboree, and I'm assured my life is a bit more magical and bright because I've grown up with it! I can't wait to bring my future kiddos with my mom by my side of course.
The Melbourne Gymboree Play & Music has been a fantastic experience for my family. The teachers at this location are wonderful at engaging each child, being energetic and investing in providing developmentally appropriate sensory and physical activities. We have been going to Gymboree weekly for the last 18 months and are thrilled with our experiences here.
Before we started Gymboree, my daughter was shy and did not have many experiences interacting with children her own age. She has grown into an outgoing, imaginative child, in part because of the experiences she had here each week. She has blossomed into a leader among her peers and will be more than ready for Pre-K in the fall. I'm excited to start taking my son to classes in the fall while she is in school.
We will continue to be a part of the Gymboree family for many years to come.

As a family, we love Gymboree. We feel it is a beautiful place where we can go and play together, sing songs, learn new things, and meet other families. I feel that Gymboree helped me build my confidence when I was a new mother; I was able to get out of the house with my infant twins and go to a place where I knew there would be other moms going through the same thing and staff members who love kids and were there to support me and my babies. I feel that Gymboree is partly responsible for the parent I have become, and I will always feel glad that I chose to enroll my children in the program.
The Scripps Poway Gymboree is truly a community and I have made close friends as a result of taking my kids there. I have also been fortunate enough to befriend teacher Aubrey. She has taught all of my kids and she is a natural teacher: patient, warm, welcoming, nurturing, and kind. She always makes parents feel welcome and comfortable and she effortlessly remembers all the babies’ names and details about their personalities. It has been wonderful to get to know her and become friends with her.

I started bringing my daughter to Gymboree Play & Music when she was 11 months old. She is now almost 16 months old and we go to Gymboree at least 3 days a week. She has enjoyed going, so much, and I have seen so much growth in her! Her teachers are fantastic!!!! They are so enthusiastic and involved in each class. We love our monthly, unlimited pass.
We have also met new people and my daughter has met some great little buddies. We are looking forward to growing even more and being able to attend more classes!
Class Type: Play & Learn
My name is Ali. I did Gymboree Play & Music starting in 1986 when I was a little over one year old. I have great memories of fun times with the parachute. We had my third birthday party at Gymboree Play & Music.
Now 30 years later, I am a mother myself and have been taking my son, Ethan, to Gymboree Play & Music. It has been such a wonderful experience for both of us. Ethan was born 3 months premature and exposing him to all of the different equipment, songs and activities has been wonderful for him. His gross motor skills are really improving and he is just thriving. We have noticed a remarkable improvement since we started attending Gymboree Play & Music.
I have attached some pictures of Ethan at Gymboree Play & Music classes and a couple of him and I. Ethan is now 14 months (11 months adjusted age, meaning 11 months old going by his original due date, which is closer to where he is developmentally. We started in level 2 and have recently started going to level 3 classes.
We are so happy to have made our way back to Gymboree Play & Music.
I can honestly say that I can't remember a time when Gymboree wasn't a part of my life.
My mother, Deborah Dunn, became a franchise owner when I was only 4 years old. So needless to say Gymboree was big part of my life growing up. When we were little we were my mother's "employees", we would help but labels on the flyers and help around the site with cleaning and set-up. When "working" in the office we would get "coffee" breaks and "paid" by picking things from the treasure chest. We used to "register" our dolls for Gymboree class, I clearly remember sitting in my mother's office in Westfield NJ and discussing with my sister what level our baby dolls were in. There is even video of me using Gymbo the stick puppet to entertain my cousins at a birthday party.
As I got older I took on more responsibilities at Gymboree and I love it. When I was 12 years old, my job was to dress-up as Gymbo for kids birthday parties, even performing for an NFL star. At 13 years old I became a summer assistant, learning the different levels and classes, learning to blow the best bubbles and give out amazing Gymbo stamps!
At 17 I started teaching night classes and running birthday parties. I continued to work with my mother until I was 28 years old, even after I became a full time teacher, working nights and weekends. I was so dedicated to my job, that one time I locked myself out of the center and I broke down the door so I could start my party on time, pure dedication right there. I can honestly say I've done it all at Gymboree, I have taught every level, art (you should've seen my smock), music (I had the best "ba's" ever) , worked the summer camps and the drop off programs, birthday parties, special events and trained new staff.
I loved working at Gymboree and have so many stories to tell. Some of my favorite things include "going on a lion hunt", doing the peppermint twist, the freeze dance and of course bubbles. When I go to the beach I have a Gymboree parachute and have even used bubbles in my classroom.
Maybe one day I will even take over my mother's centers who knows, but my story took a different turn. I decided I want to be an international teacher, the only reason that I would ever stop working at Gymboree, however while living in China I did make sure to stop in and visit the local Gymboree center and it was like I was stepping right into Westfield. In the summer of 2015 I had my daughter Jillian and I was so excited to start taking her to Gymboree, while we were sad that we couldn't go to "Grandma's Gymboree" we would be attending Gymboree in Bundang, South Korea! Yes, that is correct I now take my 10 month old to Gymboree in Korea, I don't know always know what the teachers are saying, but I know the lesson plans and I know the program and we love every minute of it. It so fun to watch her climb up the "rock wall", slide down slides and race to give Gymbo hugs and kisses.
Thanks to Grandma I'm pretty sure we own almost everything Gymboree sells and the shakers and maracas are hands down her favorites! I can't wait to take her to art and music when she is old enough! It is so surreal to me to think that I started with Gymboree when I was little back in NJ with my mother and now I am continuing that on 30 years later with my daughter in Korea!
Gymboree has played a pivotal role in my life, teaching me "how to play", how to be a good employee, how to have fun and of course how to blow bubbles! I don't know where I will be living next but I know for sure I will be taking my daughter to Gymboree there!
Here is our story about how my son and I came to know about Gymboree Play & Music.
Believe it or not way before my son Aneesh was born, I used to help babysit for a family down in Greenwood, IN and I used to help take her twin son and daughter to their Gymboree Classes once or twice a week. I absolutely loved the way the kids enjoyed their time there and I could see how beneficial the classes were to them both during and outside of their Gymboree Class. They were able to apply the skills and techniques they learned in class at home or at other public places.
After I had my son almost 2 years ago, I knew I wanted to sign him up for some classes so he could learn to interact with other children his age. He loves going to his class every week and he really enjoys the Open Play Gyms. I love how he is able to see the same children every week during his Level 4 Play and Learn class. I have also been able to form some close relationships with other parents and nannies. It amazes me how much my son has retained from his Level 4 class, his vocabulary has expanded tremendously, and he seems to remember all the fun songs and the Gymboree signature activities they do every week. I feel I have also formed a close bond with several of the teachers at Gymboree.
Thank you very much for the opportunity for allowing us to share our incredible Gymboree story with all of you.
My husband and I enrolled our daughter, Genevieve, in Gymboree Play & Music when she was 13 months. She was an early walker at 10 months so we were desperate to find a safe outlet for her curious ways. Gymboree was PERFECT! She could learn to climb (and fall), run (and fall) and bounce (and fall) all in the safest and softest environment.
The Play & Learn classes have been a hit from day one! Parachute time and bubbles are Genevieve's favorite! As she became older, she also became attached to her teacher Ms Jessica. She now mimics the "pretend play" that Ms Jessica has taught her and she looks forward to seeing "Ms Jessica!" as we drive to Gymboree. Genevieve also warmed up to Ms Julie (a returning employee) very quickly and gets very excited to see her as well!
Genevieve has seen Ms Denise from the beginning but only in the capacity as the desk lady . . . but all of a sudden she became quite interested in what Ms Denise was doing behind that counter. She would ask me if she could say hello (Daddy works behind a desk at home and sometimes cannot be interrupted so that is why Genevieve wanted to be sure it was ok to talk to Ms Denise). Genevieve quickly became attached to Ms Denise as well which was perfect timing . . . we recently began the Preschool Steps class (the one hour drop off class) led by Ms Denise and Ms Julie. While the "drop off" time may involve a tear or two, Genevieve is SO EXCITED when I pick her up! She tells me what they did and PROUDLY shows me her paintings, letters, etc.
My only regret . . . I wish I would have started this class earlier!!
So that leads me to a suggestion . . . when a child turns 2, they should receive a certificate for a free trial class of the Preschool Steps.
Thanks Gymboree, Ms Jessica, Ms Julie, Ms Denise and all the other workers who have made Gymboree such a wonderful place!!

My daughter attends the Gymboree Play & Music in Midnapore, Calgary, Alberta.
She was so shy to start and refused all activities. She would also cry when people talked to her. But now, after only 3 months, she's like a different person. She runs everywhere, does all the activities, and has an absolute blast!!
It's improved her socialization and her dexterity and gross motor skills. She has confidence in herself. She even has all the songs memorized. A lot of the credit goes to Charli, her teacher. She's amazing-she always has lots of energy and encourages the kids. She's the best and has helped my daughter out of her shell.
We are so glad that we put my daughter in Gymboree Play & Music!!
Good morning ~ I wanted to express my experience I'm having at your location in Cornelius, North Carolina.
I am a retired teacher and now caring for a 2 1/2 yr old now. I have been taking Leo to Gymboree Play & Music over a year now and can't say enough positive things about it. Leo was very shy and now he is right there up in everything that is going on. His instructor, Miss Stephanie Pantaleo has shown nothing but love, guidance, structure and creativity through her lesson plan for the day as well as in open gym sessions. All with a smiles and laughter as well which as I see the children just love !!
As a retired teacher, I can see she really enjoys her job and it shows through her actions. She is most definitely an asset to your company. I am going to continue to pass the word along that your staff at this location and curriculum is most enjoyable experience for young children.
Thank you for making Leo's experience at Gymboree Play & Music a happy one! Keep up the good work ...
