The Power of Another Sucessful Craft Project

In honor of Mother's Day, our center decided to have the little ones make a craft to give to Mom when they came into Playgym this week. It was so great!! The children loved coming over and playing in the paint and wanting to glue all of the "sparklies" on it as well. When they dried, the children could not wait to see what they had done. One of the toddler's in my class said to me, that "Mommy will love it and hang it up outside." What a success!!

Where Horses Live

Gymboree Play & Learn 5 kids and I have been playing and pretending to be horses these past two weeks. Level 5 is 22-28 months and are just beginning to focus on pretend play (such an awesome class). Parker has been my friend for awhile now and decided to come to my class last week for the first time. I guess his mom asked him the other day where horses live. That day in class we had traveled to a barn and ate apples as horses, but his answer was "with Miss Casie". Darling sweet wonderful innocence (I love it). :)

Music is My Life

Music classes will never be the same for me again. I have a music and theatre degree and I have been singing and dancing my whole life but one little girl changed that for me. I just recently have taken over the Music Classes from a woman who has been teaching the classes for over 2 years years. I have a 5 year old in my Music III class. She has been coming to Gymboree play classes since she was 1 year old and has never stopped. She came in the other day and told me that when we rock back and forth to the music it is not called rocking. I than asked her what it meant. She said it was "Doing and Mary." (The child's name is Mary.) I then looked at her mother in which she replied that when Mary dances she rocks back a forth and the previous teacher called rocking doing a Mary and everyone in the class knew what that meant. I was almost in tears. It was so cute to see her face and then during class when it came to rocking I just smiled and said, "Alright, let rock or do the Mary." What a great day.

Why I Love Being a Gymboree Teacher

Play & Music Classes, Wonderful Jobs, Baby Classes, Toddler Classes, Activities for Kids Greenwood, Toddler Play Group GreenwoodI love being a teacher at Gymboree Play & Music. I love having the chance to really make a difference in people's day. One smile or word of encouragement can really change the way someone's day is going. That rule goes for teachers as well. During our Play Gym this afternoon, I had just walked onto the playfloor from a short break. Before I ever saw my friend Lila, I heard her clapping and screaming with excitment. She was so excited to see me and play with me. What a welcoming!! My Play & Learn 4 with all of her excitment made me feel so special!! That's why Gymboree is important to me. Making people feel special about themselves and their children makes me feel special in return! I love my families here in Greenwood. My job is the BEST!

New Faces

I just started to work with our Play & Learn 1 babies and I knew that it would be a whole lot of fun. What I didn't know was the growth of the babies in just a few days. We had 2 new babies enroll in the class and after only 2 classes the babies were trying to grab onto things and see the world in a whole new light. I can't wait to see what they will do next.

20 years of Service to Gymboree!

It is hard to believe that Sue of Nottingham Gymboree Play & Music has been teaching Gymboree for 20 years. She has seen three changes to Gymbo the clown, the retirement of Gymbelle the clown and many class changes. Our location has changed 3 times and have had two franchise owners and she has worked for both. She says that "I love the children and I'll never retire!" We are glad to have her on our team and it is quite an accomplishment. She even got me to become a teacher more than 11 years ago

Life Changing

I am a teacher by profession. I went to school & received a degree and credential. I always knew I wanted to work with children. But it was not until I started working for Gymboree Play & Music, that this career choice turned into a passion. In two years I have transformed from a green teacher, new, excited, and unaware of who I will become, to a learned Gymboree teacher & expert bubble blower and parachute flyer. I have learned the importance of play to a child's development. I know now that it is not just time for bubbles & parachute, but time to work out hand-eye coordination or learn object-permanence skills. Or that a parent's encouragement is seen as social referencing in a child's eyes. That art and music not only encourages self expression, but helps practice fine motor skills and cognitive development.

Throughout these short years, I was amazed to see the children, as well as the parents grow developmentally, physically, and socially. Gymboree Play & Music is a unique place where these changes happen.
During my time here, I have also became a mother and changed into a peer to the families who come. Working at Gymboree prepared me for this wonderful stage in my life. As a parent, the classes, teachers and families that we meet provide support and answers to questions or advice that concerns our little ones. It comforts me knowing that this strong and knowledgeable team is available whenever we attend. I find myself taking what I learned, and passing it along to other families or always recommending them to come. I thank Gymboree for making me a constantly learning student, a versatile teacher, and loving Gymboree mom.

Enjoying Summer in Art Classes

We are celebrating summertime in Art classes this week! My Art III friends had an awesome time digging in the tactile table today. It was hilarious to watch because when they began digging, they were unaware that anything was in there besides sand and leaves. They were more than thrilled to find gummy worms and lots of plastic bugs! We then took those worms and added them to our snail garden art project. I love teaching Art at Gymboree Play and Music in Carmel!

A Teacher's Inspiration

I am a teacher at Gymboree Play and Music in the NYC area. My students are always inspiring me in one way or another, but one student in particular has a special place in my heart. When I started working here about a year ago, Nina was in my Play & Learn 6 class. She was afraid to climb, jump, run and do anything without Dad's help. She would always ask "Papa, help me!" to do any task. Nina goes to physical therapy because she has low muscle tone. After a few months, Nina began to jump on her own. Her father decided to try out sports class to see how she would do, plus she was always trying to play all the sports her older brother played. Nina is now one of my star pupils. She can do everything that all the other children can do and then some. She never gives up (but asks to take a break if she needs it). She always come to class with a smile on her face and with lots of enthusiasm about every sport we try. She always shares wonderful news and cheers on her teammates. Nina inspires me to be a more physically fit and nice person. Thank you for being such a great student and kid Nina!

Play as Enrichment

I have been instructing at Gymboree Play and Music for over a year now and absolutely love my job, helping 0-5 year olds with developmental milestones. It is very rewarding to see Gymboree babies and tots move up the levels and grow skills in their body and mind. I stand behind all of the programs offered; play & learn, art and music classes. Every class gives wonderful opportunities for the kids and parents alike to learn new skills and bond with their peers. I see parents learning new techniques that guide their children's development. Many families make lasting friendships in their classes. I am so happy to have found Gymboree and are able to witness wonderful family enrichment.

Birthday Time at Gymboree

I must say that one of my favorite parts of being a Gymboree Play and Music teacher is being able to celebrate birthdays with all of my little friends. Being allowed to share their special day is truly a joy for me, not to mention incredibly fun!

Today my friend celebrated his second birthday with an All Aboard Trains themed party. He and his friends chugged away, yelling, "choo choo!" throughout the entire party! What made his party so special is that the party was all about what he loved: trains and Gymbo the clown (not to mention those bubbles)!

Gymboree: Shining around the world

All around the world, Gymboree is teaching and helping babies and children grow into happy people! I worked for Gymboree in the province of Guangdong, China for 6 months and absolutely LOVED it. Although I didn't speak very much Chinese and mostly communicated mostly through facial expressions and body language, it was clear to me that Gymboree taught so many social, emotional, and cognitive skills through play and music. When I returned to the United States, I started teaching at my local Gymboree and I love it even more! Nothing is better than seeing the faces of children light up when they see Gymbo! Gymboree Play & Learn classes are so creative and unique in the way they help children learn and socialize with one another. One thing is sure for me: I'm happy to be at Gymboree!

What I Love About Gymboree

I've been teaching Gymboree Play & Learn classes for years and currently teach at the Salt Lake City Gymboree Play and Music. I enjoy working with the experienced staff and owners who always put the parents and their children first... they genuinely care about all people, big or small.

I love watching the parents interact with their children and enjoy encouraging the adults to let go of their inhibitions and act silly. When they remember what it is like to play with child-like abandon, to "not sweat the small stuff" and focus on confidence building, the whole process of learning becomes fun for them and their child. Gymboree Play & Music is fun!

School Skills: Not just another preschool

I currently teach the School Skills program and have the great opportunity to not just help kiddos learn their ABC's and 123's, but to help them establish the essential social skills needed for school and everyday living. The school skills focus sets Gymboree Play and Music programs apart from everybody else and allows children quality learning, interaction, and fun! It's so exciting to see these amazing 3 & 4 year olds discover their potential, develop fundamental skills, and learn while also having a great time! I am truly blessed to be a part of these kids lives and am so thankful to be a part of this program!

From Gymboree Mom to Gymboree Teacher

I was a Gymboree mom 16 years ago when my daughter was only 3 months old. I have such fond memories of those play classes. I made amazing friends and we created a wonderful playgroup for our children. All these years later I am happy to say that now I am a Gymboree Play and Music Teacher! I work in such a happy and joyful place. It is a pleasure to come to work everyday and see all of the smiling faces!

Second Generation

When my, now 19-year old daughter Lauren, was a toddler we attended Gymboree play classes. We loved it so much that I began teaching Gymboree Play & Learn classes 17 years ago. Not many people can say they LOVE their job, as I do. I have fun every day I go to work. The best part of my job is when a little one comes up to me and gives me a huge hug. Life doesn't get much better than that. My daughter, Lauren, now also works at Gymboree as Gymbo the Clown.

Moving on Up

Every week at Gymboree Play and Music is filled with change, but this seems especially true this week. Kids grow at such a rapid pace in the first five years that it seems like every week my little friends come in bigger, stronger, and more cognitively developed than the previous week. This week has been a week of watching a good deal of my friends move up to their next level of Play & Learn classes. Two of my Level 1 friends have turned six months old, have mastered the art of sitting up all on their own, and are now eager to work on those pre-crawling skills in Level 2. I must say they were very missed in our Level 1 class this week, but seeing them out with all the Level 2 babies, making their best efforts to crawl up ramps, playing their first game of baby soccer, and watching their excitement and eagerness for new challenges made me incredibly proud.

Additionally, this week it is officially time for one of my amazing Level 3 friends to make his way up to Level 4 and begin to work on those problem solving skills! My friend has been working on getting the hang of walking for the last few months. He has progressed from only being able to push the airlog a few feet during the signature airlog push to running across the play floor! I'm so excited to see him expand those motor skills as well as his cognitive skills in Level 4! He's going to be great!

The best part of teaching at Gymboree Play and Music in Carmel, Indiana is watching all my little friends grow every week!

A Great Team

I am a new School Skills teacher. I have been a preschool teacher for many years, but not recently. It is good to get back into teaching preschoolers. They are so full of curiosity and enthusiasm. The other teachers at my site have been very good at helping me get back into the swing of things. They are a very dedicated group of women, who are always thinking of ways to better the program which of course makes it better for the children and parents.
I look forward to my new career with Gymboree Play and Music.

Happy Teacher

Happy times at Gymboree Play and Music...there are so many, where do I begin? I've been teaching Music classes and Play & Learn classes at Gymboree in Brentwood, TN for a year and a half now, and I'm so pleased to be here. From the special bond I share with each family, to the many milestones I'm lucky to witness, it's impossible to have a "bad day" at my job. Thank you to all the Gymboree Families, my co-workers and owner, Erin, for enriching my life.
Love, Miss Rachel
