The highlight of my week is working at Gymboree Play & Music on Saturdays. It's the only day of the week that I teach for Gymboree and there are so many reasons why I love it! There is such a feeling of camaraderie among the grown-ups and the little ones. It always brings a smile to my face.
This past Saturday, I witnessed one of our pregnant mommies having a difficult time with her son, who is almost two. This particular mommy has a husband in the military, so she has a lot on her plate right now! Even with so much going on, she still makes it to Gymboree play classes each and every Saturday. This past Saturday, her son was simply too fast for her! Enter one of our other Gymboree moms, who comes to her rescue, engaging the boy just long enough for his mom to catch up. And that's the sort of thing that happens every week!
In my Play & Learn 2 baby classes, it is sometimes difficult to transition from Introductions to Baby Boogies because the grown-ups are having such a good discussion! We've talked about everything from the latest toy and where to get it, to the best place to find a reliable babysitter, to anxiety about a child reaching developmental milestones.
I also love how my Saturday families welcome new members. We have quite a few International families who come to class and a new member will always leave with a new buddy to talk to, whether it's in Spanish, Japanese, or French! People ask me why I continue to get up early on Saturdays to work at Gymboree Play & Music and my answer is always the same: I love my Saturday families!
