Gymboree Play & Music of Houston is inviting all families and children from the Houston community this Labor Day weekend to come play, de-stress and unwind from all the devastation and chaos created by Hurricane Harvey. It has been proven time and time again that play is a hardwired, daily need for children, and that play is one of the best ways for kids to cope in a crisis.
With local Houston schools closed, playgrounds flooded, and so many families displaced from their homes, Gymboree Play & Music of Houston wants to do our part to help our community’s children have a safe place to play — and to give moms and dads a moment of sanity as well.
Devina Bhojwani, the owner of multiple Gymboree Play & Music play centers in the Houston area, has had extensive damage to her own home and yet still comes in to open her business’s doors to the community. She and her team are working throughout the long Labor Day weekend, unpaid, in order to offer Open Gym play groups totally FREE of charge for Houston families.
We are doing everything we can to keep our doors open and our play space safe and free for Houston families,” says Bhojwani. “It’s so important for parents and kids to have a small moment of normalcy and happiness through play during these difficult times.
