We Heart You

Here is our story about how my son and I came to know about Gymboree Play & Music.

Believe it or not way before my son Aneesh was born, I used to help babysit for a family down in Greenwood, IN and I used to help take her twin son and daughter to their Gymboree Classes once or twice a week. I absolutely loved the way the kids enjoyed their time there and I could see how beneficial the classes were to them both during and outside of their Gymboree Play & Music Class. They were able to apply the skills and techniques they learned in class at home or at other public places.

After I had my son almost 2 years ago, I knew I wanted to sign him up for some classes so he could learn to interact with other children his age. He loves going to his class every week and he really enjoys the Open Play Gyms. I love how he is able to see the same children every week during his Level 4 Play and Learn class. I have also been able to form some close relationships with other parents and nannies. It amazes me how much my son has retained from his Level 4 class, his vocabulary has expanded tremendously, and he seems to remember all the fun songs and the Gymboree Play & Music signature activities they do every week. I feel I have also formed a close bond with several of the teachers at Gymboree Play & Music .

Thank you very much for the opportunity for allowing us to share our incredible Gymboree Play & Music story with all of you.

Multi-Generational Play

I can honestly say that I can’t remember a time when Gymboree Play & Music wasn’t a part of my life.

My mother, Deborah Dunn, became a franchise owner when I was only 4 years old. So needless to say Gymboree Play & Music was big part of my life growing up. When we were little we were my mother’s “employees”, we would help but labels on the flyers and help around the site with cleaning and set-up. When “working” in the office we would get “coffee” breaks and “paid” by picking things from the treasure chest. We used to “register” our dolls for Gymboree Play & Music class, I clearly remember sitting in my mother’s office in Westfield NJ and discussing with my sister what level our baby dolls were in. There is even video of me using Gymbo the stick puppet to entertain my cousins at a birthday party.

As I got older I took on more responsibilities at Gymboree Play & Music and I love it. When I was 12 years old, my job was to dress-up as Gymbo for kids birthday parties, even performing for an NFL star. At 13 years old I became a summer assistant, learning the different levels and classes, learning to blow the best bubbles and give out amazing Gymbo stamps!

At 17 I started teaching night classes and running birthday parties. I continued to work with my mother until I was 28 years old, even after I became a full time teacher, working nights and weekends. I was so dedicated to my job, that one time I locked myself out of the center and I broke down the door so I could start my party on time, pure dedication right there. I can honestly say I’ve done it all at Gymboree Play & Music, I have taught every level, art (you should’ve seen my smock), music (I had the best “ba’s” ever) , worked the summer camps and the drop off programs, birthday parties, special events and trained new staff.

I loved working at Gymboree Play & Music and have so many stories to tell. Some of my favorite things include “going on a lion hunt”, doing the peppermint twist, the freeze dance and of course bubbles. When I go to the beach I have a Gymboree Play & Music parachute and have even used bubbles in my classroom.

Maybe one day I will even take over my mother’s centers who knows, but my story took a different turn. I decided I want to be an international teacher, the only reason that I would ever stop working at Gymboree Play & Music, however while living in China I did make sure to stop in and visit the local Gymboree Play & Music center and it was like I was stepping right into Westfield. In the summer of 2015 I had my daughter Jillian and I was so excited to start taking her to Gymboree Play & Music, while we were sad that we couldn’t go to “Grandma’s Gymboree Play & Music” we would be attending Gymboree Play & Music in Bundang, South Korea! Yes, that is correct I now take my 10 month old to Gymboree Play & Music in Korea, I don’t know always know what the teachers are saying, but I know the lesson plans and I know the program and we love every minute of it. It so fun to watch her climb up the “rock wall”, slide down slides and race to give Gymbo hugs and kisses.

Thanks to Grandma I’m pretty sure we own almost everything Gymboree Play & Music sells and the shakers and maracas are hands down her favorites! I can’t wait to take her to art and music when she is old enough! It is so surreal to me to think that I started with Gymboree Play & Music when I was little back in NJ with my mother and now I am continuing that on 30 years later with my daughter in Korea!

Gymboree Play & Music has played a pivotal role in my life, teaching me “how to play”, how to be a good employee, how to have fun and of course how to blow bubbles! I don’t know where I will be living next but I know for sure I will be taking my daughter to Gymboree Play & Music there!

30 Years Later

My name is Ali. I did Gymboree Play & Music starting in 1986 when I was a little over one year old. I have great memories of fun times with the parachute. We had my third birthday party at Gymboree Play & Music.

Now 30 years later, I am a mother myself and have been taking my son, Ethan, to Gymboree Play & Music. It has been such a wonderful experience for both of us. Ethan was born 3 months premature and exposing him to all of the different equipment, songs and activities has been wonderful for him. His gross motor skills are really improving and he is just thriving. We have noticed a remarkable improvement since we started attending Gymboree Play & Music.

I have attached some pictures of Ethan at Gymboree Play & Music classes and a couple of him and I. Ethan is now 14 months (11 months adjusted age, meaning 11 months old going by his original due date, which is closer to where he is developmentally. We started in level 2 and have recently started going to level 3 classes.

We are so happy to have made our way back to Gymboree Play & Music.

Calgary. Creativity. Confidence. Friendship.

My daughter attends the Gymboree Play & Music in Midnapore, Calgary, Alberta.

She was so shy to start and refused all activities. She would also cry when people talked to her. But now, after only 3 months, she’s like a different person. She runs everywhere, does all the activities, and has an absolute blast!!

It’s improved her socialization and her dexterity and gross motor skills. She has confidence in herself. She even has all the songs memorized. A lot of the credit goes to Charli, her teacher. She’s amazing-she always has lots of energy and encourages the kids. She’s the best and has helped my daughter out of her shell.

We are so glad that we put my daughter in Gymboree Play & Music!!

Happy Experiences

Good morning ~ I wanted to express my experience I’m having at your location in Cornelius, North Carolina.

I am a retired teacher and now caring for a 2 1/2 yr old now. I have been taking Leo to Gymboree Play & Music over a year now and can’t say enough positive things about it. Leo was very shy and now he is right there up in everything that is going on. His instructor, Miss Stephanie Pantaleo has shown nothing but love, guidance, structure and creativity through her lesson plan for the day as well as in open gym sessions. All with a smiles and laughter as well which as I see the children just love !!

As a retired teacher, I can see she really enjoys her job and it shows through her actions. She is most definitely an asset to your company. I am going to continue to pass the word along that your staff at this location and curriculum is most enjoyable experience for young children.

Thank you for making Leo’s experience at Gymboree Play & Music a happy one! Keep up the good work …

Sincerely, Donna
